Taranaki entrants Turn It Up and Testing have come through their final trial satisfactorily, without setting the world alight at Awapuni on Thursday morning.
The majority of fast work during a quiet gallop session was on the synthetic track.
Turn It Up (mdn 1100m) and Testing (r75 1200m), both trained by Roydon Bergerson, worked over 1000m together, increasing the tempo as they went to finish with 800m in 55.2, the last 600 in 40.5.
Turn It Up won a Foxton trial in late May before a solid second when resuming last month, and the Tivaci filly meets just five rivals on Saturday.
Testing (by Time Test) won a Foxton trial as well, then scored convincingly, fresh up at Otaki last week. Brazilian jockey Bruno Queiroz will ride both horses.
Time honours Thursday morning went to Belardo mare Lovehelen, who skipped over 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 37.2. She is building nicely in a new campaign.
Unraced three-year-old Al Passo (by Alamosa) and unraced two-year-old Amiria (by Per Incanto) ran 1000m in 1.11.1, the last 600 in 38.3. Both horses are trained by Mike Breslin.
Their stablemate Pleasing went with Falcrests Belle over 800m in 55.7, the last 600 in 39.4. Falcrests Belle (by Darci Brahma), who was unplaced on debut over New Year, is trained by Nikki Hurdle.
Reign It In was kept to three-quarter pace over 800m, the last 600 in 44.3.
On the plough (heavy), Opunake Cup contender Belardo Boy did two quiet rounds, with a 600m dash at the end of each one.
Apprentice jockey Amber Riddell was successful on the gelding last start (60kg), but her father Jonathan is back aboard on Saturday with the same weight.
