Shameless Star as ready as she'll ever be
Shameless Star rubber-stamped her fitness with another very satisfactory trial at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

Fast work during a quiet gallop session was held on the synthetic track.

Shameless Star was paired with stablemate Victortheinflictor, just as she was on Tuesday, and again they worked right-handed over 1000 metres in 1.10.9, increasing the tempo as they went to finish with 800m in 51.2, the last 600 in 38.9.

Shameless Star is an acceptor for the Winter Series 3YO Final (1600m) at Ellerslie on Saturday and will be ridden again by stable apprentice Toni Davies, who claims 2kg.

The filly has won three of her last five races over 1000 metres, 1200 metres and 1340 metres respectively, with a total of four wins this season.

She has yet to be tested past 1400 metres, so Saturday's $70,000 feature over the metric mile is very much a learning curve for trainers Peter and Trent Didham.

Victortheinflictor races the following day at home on the synthetic track (r71 1700m), where eight previous starts on that particular surface have yielded two wins, a second, two thirds and a fourth.

In his first race back in a new campaign three weeks ago, the Vespa gelding finished third over 1400 metres. Saturday's distance will hold no fears because one of his two previous wins on the synthetic track was over 2140 metres.

Meanwhile, their stablemate Subtle Image, another previous winner on the synthetic track, galloped with unraced three-year-old filly Velvet Lilly (by Contributer), trained by Bryce Newman.

They were timed their final 800m in 53.2, the last 600 in 38.4.

Subtle Image finished fifth on the synthetic track three weeks ago (2140m) and runs over the same distance on Sunday.

Lightly raced four-year-old Falcrests Belle, not seen since New Year, worked alone over 800m in 55.7, the last 600 in 39.3, much to the satisfaction of her trainer Nikki Hurdle.

Unraced filly La Bella Sirena (by Redwood) and unraced gelding Dinghy (by Ocean Park) went 800m together in 57.1, the last 600 in 40.6. They are three-year-olds trained by Bryce Newman.
