Fast work was on the extreme outside of the course proper or on the plough, but a dense fog prevented the timing of several gallops.

Ribella Rose, who worked just as strongly on Tuesday, used the course proper and had maiden stablemate Pippasjewel for a partner over 1000m in 1.6.3, the last 600 in 36.6.

Ribella Rose was a last-start maiden winner at Tauherenikau (2050m) in mid-March and resumes in the last race at Otaki on Saturday (r65 mile). Awapuni apprentice Toni Davies rides her for the first time, and will claim 2kg.

Zackery, not engaged this week, gathered speed from the 1000m (1.10.8) to finish with 800m in 54.3, the last 600 in 37.9. He ran third at Tauherenikau at his last start.

Saturday's Rangitikei Gold Cup entrant, The Scunner had trainer Ashley Meadows aboard over 1000m in 1.9.4, the last 600 in 38.1. He's a winning prospect, but this will probably be his last race in this preparation.

Unraced three-year-old filly No Love Lost (by Ribchester) and stablemate Punisher were paired over 1000m in 1.11.4, with the final 800m taking 56.5, the last 600 in 40.4.

No Love Lost, third at the Foxton trials last month, debuts in the first race on Saturday (mdn 1400m), and Punisher heads to the Egmont meeting on Sunday for a maiden mile after her last-start second at Tauherenikau.

On the plough, Egmont runner Weneedashock (jumpers' hwt) and unraced three-year-old filly Where's Ange (by King Of Comedy) were timed 800m in 54.3, the last 600 in 39.5.

Weneedashock, now trained by the Fannin partnership, won a Foxton open trial (1400m) last month then finished fourth when resuming at Woodville (r60 1600m) two weeks later.

A Contributer filly trained by Bryce Newman, was kept to 800m in 58.4, the last 600 in 42.5.
