The day belonged to Bruno Queiroz and the Kevin & Stephen Gray team, with the combination dominating early and taking out the opening three races with three promising gallopers.
The first of the day went to the exciting four-year-old Toronto, who improved off his debut run to break his maiden in style. Under light riding from Queiroz, he cruised away to score by three lengths.
In the second, Our Akashinga had to dig deep, looking in danger at the 150m mark, but lifted bravely to snatch victory right on the line.
The treble was completed in Race 3 by Exaggeration, bred and owned by Kevin & Kathleen Gray, who continued his terrific synthetic form with a third win this preparation.
Queiroz wasn’t finished there. Later in the programme he guided Revo home for Peter Fitzgerald, giving him four wins on the day. He now looks to have an unassailable lead in the Synthetic Jockey of the Year title.
It was also a big day for Suzy Gordon & apprentice Liam Kauri, who continued their hot form with another double. He’s A Battler extended his great record on the synthetic with a third win from his past four starts, while Ruji, a recent stable addition, broke his maiden at his tenth attempt.
Local trainers also got on the board. Peter Didham’s Victortheinflictor received the loudest cheer of the day from his vocal ownership group, while Lisa Latta’s Love Janie capped off her consistent season with a second synthetic victory this year.
