Quiet session but some good times recorded
Coney Island, Belle's Charm and Donatello were the star trialists during a quiet session at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

All horses working at speed used the plough, but fog prevented the timing of a few gallops.

Coney Island and maiden stablemate Belle's Charm went together, covering 1000m in 1.2.5, with the final 800m taking 50.1 the last 600 in 36.5.

Coney Island is in the early stages of a new campaign and preceded this smart gallop with an unplaced run at the Foxton trials last week.

Belle's Charm has a third and fourth to her credit over sprint distances but is now being tried over further ground.

Donatello, who continues to work solidly, had trainer Ashley Meadows aboard over 1000m in 1.1.4, the last 600 in 36.3. He was unplaced on debut at Waverley two weeks ago, but there was merit in his run.

Last-start maiden winners Chelsea Rose and Damiano were paired over 1000m in 1.3.6 and finished with 800m in 49.8, the last 600 in 36.5.

Wingman, off to Matamata on Saturday, and four-year-old maiden mare Punisher (by Staphanos) matched strides over 1200m in 1.21.1, the last 600 in 37.9.

Wairoa Cup entrant Donnybrook and Dapper Dan gathered speed from the 1000m to run 800m in 53.3, the last 600 in 38.8, while Our Giulia and a Derryn filly sprinted 600m in 38.7.

Three-year-old filly Too Sweet and unraced three-year-old filly Lalume (by Almanzor) ran 800m in 54.1, the last 600 in 39.9, while French Doll and unraced three-year-old filly Amiria (by Per Incanto) took 55.1 and 39.4.

Maiden four-year-old Afterthought (by So You Think), who has not raced since April last year, was timed 800m in a quiet 57.1, the last 600 in 41.7.
