The Lydia Pickford-trained duo of Emoji and Galeforce were in good form at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

Fast work during a quiet gallop session was on the plough, where maidens Emoji (by Ocean Park) and Galeforce (by Ardrossan) were paired over 1000m in 1.6.2, coming the final 800m in 50.2, the last 600 in 36.5.

Both horses have had four races each, with few points on the board so far, but this gallop was certainly encouraging as they head into autumn.

Their better-performed stablemate Lady Performer, not seen since November, covered 800m in 58.1, the last 600 in 39.8, while two Nadeem fillies trained by Deborah Parry ended with 600m in 39.4.

Unraced three-year-old filly Lalume (by Almanzor) and unraced four-year-old Waititi (by Reliable Man) went 1000m in 1.15.5, with the final 800m taking 56.3, the last 600 in 40.7. They are with Roydon Bergerson.

Keepz Occurring, who won a maiden hurdle at Woodville last August, had part-owner Leah Hemi aboard over 1000m in 1.12.8 and the seven-year-old ended with 800m in 55.3, the last 600 in 40.1.

Kosta, in the r75 mile at Trentham on Saturday, did a quiet round and was then kept to 800m in 58.2, the last 600 in 41.8 on the second circuit.

He will be ridden by top South Island jockey Tina Comignaghi, and steps up to 1600 metres for the first time in this campaign. The gelding is a previous winner at Trentham, which was over a sprint distance (1000m) last October.
