Oulaghan trio show some clout
The Mark Oulaghan-trained trio of Pinkerton, Sloane Square and Sweettest took the time honours between them in separate gallops at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

Fast work was held against the rail on the course proper or on the plough amid frosty conditions again.

Pinkerton, ridden by amateur jockey Skye du Plessis, covered 1200m, being timed from the 1000m in 1.5.1, coming his final 800m in 51.3, the last 600 in 36.1.

Sloane Square (du Plessis) left 1000m behind in 1.7.8, with the final 800m taking 51.8, the last 600 in 36.3, while Sweettest (du Plessis) recorded 1.9.1 and 52.7, the last 600 in 37 seconds even.

Neither of the three have engagements this weekend.

Danjuro, in the r75 2200m at Waverley tomorrow, and unraced three-year-old The Loose Moose (by Ace High) ran 800m together in 51.3, the last 600 in 37.6.

Weneedashock, off to Te Aroha on Sunday for an open hurdle race, and unraced three-year-old filly New York (by Ribchester) were paired over 1000m in 1.10.1, completing the final 800m in 53.3, the last 600 in 37.4.

Rising nine-year-old He's A Doozy, not seen since April, ran 1000m in 1.11.5 and came his final 800m in 53.9, the last 600 in 37.5.

Saturday's Otaki entrant Knickerless (r65 2100m) was timed 1000m in 1.7.6, the last 600 in 38.1, while unraced three-year-olds Sauron (by Per Incanto) and I Toldyou (by Ribchester), both trained by Roydon Bergerson, went together in 1.7.2 and 38.8.

Manzor Blue and Belzoni were locked together throughout 1000m in 1.8.2, the last 600 in 38.4, while Otaki runners Amazing Son (r75 1400m) and Starpello (r65 2100m) clocked 1.10.2 and 38.7.

Farravallo (open 1100m) ended with 600m in 38.1, while his stablemates Turn It Up (r65 1200m) and Our Giulia, galloping together, posted 38.5.

Testing (open 1100m) was kept to 800m in 56.3, the last 600 in 39 seconds even, and Benefactor (open mile) took 59.8 and 39.1. Bradman came up with 57.8 and 39.7.

Last-start maiden winner Wind Talker ran 1000m in 1.12.4, the last 600 in 40.2, and stablemate Rocking Light posted 1.13.2 and 42.2. Lady Anglesea (r65 1400m) was restricted to three-quarter pace .

On the plough, Popinjay and Al Passo did a quiet round before galloping 800m in 55.3, the last 600 in 39.5, while their stablemates Kosta (open mile) and East End Lad, in similar work, took 56.1 and 40.6.
