Fast work was held three or four metres out from the rail on the course proper or on the plough.

Omega Boy used the course proper and had stable apprentice Toni Davies aboard over 1000m in 1.6.1, with the final 800m taking 51.6, the last 600 in 36.6.

The Time Test gelding looks in wonderful order as he attempts to complete a Group 2 double at Trentham after his Japan Trophy success at Tauranga two weeks ago.

Time honours went to four-year-old maiden gelding Heza Monty, who reeled off 1000m in 1.4.9, coming the final 800m in 50.5, the last 600 in 35.8. He has not raced since finishing second at Tauherenikau over New Year.

He's A Doozy, another in the Awapuni Gold Cup, worked with Platinum Tyche over 1000m in 1.4.1, with the final 800m taking 51 seconds even, the last 600 in 37.6.

Their stablemate Redana worked alone over 1000m in 1.4.5, finishing with 800m in 50.6, the last 600 in 37 seconds even.

Hoorah Henry, the second of two Lisa Latta-trained horses in the Awapuni Gold Cup, had Damiano for a partner over 1000m in 1.5.9, covering the final 800m in 52.4, the last 600 in 38.7.

Maiden filly Oklahoma, third in two of her last three starts, and unraced filly Juanita Maria (by Ardrossan) ran 1000m in 1.10.3, ending with 800m in 53.5, the last 600 in 38.7.

Trentham runners Jacobite Rising (MAAT 1600m) and Our Giulia (r65 1400m) did similar work, being timed 1000m in 1.12.3 and 55.1, the last 600 in 38.2. A Reliable Man gelding and a Staphanos filly, both trained by Lisa Latta, went 800m in 55.3 and 38.1.

Matamata visitor What You Wish For did even work over 1000m in 1.8.1, with the final 800m taking 54 seconds even, the last 600 in 39.7.

It was all the doctor ordered for this gallop, and he promises to make his presence felt in the Awapuni Gold Cup.

Sires' Produce Stakes runner Pinafore was not chasing the clock either when accompanying maiden stablemate Platinum Norway over 1000m in 1.12.2, coming the final 800m in 55.9, the last 600 in 40.3 .

Only The Lonely (r65 1400m) was kept to a quiet 800m, the last 600 in 40.6, and her stablemate Uncle Arch (Awapuni Gold Cup) ended with 41.2.

Wingman led his stablemate Bradman by several lengths throughout 1000m, the last 600 in 42.1, and both horses contest the open 1400m on Saturday.

Bradman won the same race two years ago with Wiremu Pinn in the saddle and, ironically, the jockey has been booked for the ride again.

Casino (r75 1200m) was kept to three-quarter pace over a circuit, the last 600 in 44.3.

On the plough, unraced filly Kate's Escape (by Turn Me Loose) and unraced gelding McBlue (by Tivaci) ran 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 36.3. They are three-year-olds trained By Bryce Newman.

Their stablemate Bee Precious (by Per Incanto) went 52.6 and 38.1, and has not been seen since the spring. Unraced two-year-old Dance To Exceed (by Exceedance) and an Anders filly, both in the Latta barn, took 53.2 and 38.9.

French Doll covered 800m in 53.5, the last 600 in 39.4, and stablemate Afterthought was almost identical with 56.3 and 39.4. Sax Appeal clocked 55.5 and 40.1.
