Make Time on the plough and Altezza on the synthetic track were impressive workers at Awapuni on Thursday morning.

Make Time, galloping alone, had amateur rider Caitlin Rennie aboard over 1000m in 1.2.6, the last 600 in 35.8, indicating that the solid form is holding.

He is racing much better again since the blinkers went on, with a win and two placings over the last nine weeks.

Also on the plough, a Satono Aladdin colt and a Hello Youmzain gelding, two-year-olds in the Latta stable, sprinted 600m in 36.2. They went together over 600m on Tuesday, clocking 40.3.

Maiden four-year-old First Edition (by Wrote), who has not raced since April, and a Wyndspelle gelding, two more with Lisa Latta, ran 800m in 50.5, the last 600 in 37.7. Youngsters by Shocking and Brutal from the same barn ended with 37.5.

Passenger (by Tarzino), a last-start winner in late August, ran 1200 metres, being timed from the 1000m in 1.7.2, the last 600 in 38.9. He resumes in the r65 mile at Hawera on Saturday, and should go well fresh.

Sand Point, in at the Marton synthetic meeting on Sunday (mdn 3yo 1000m), had unraced stablemate Saxon Lady (by Saxon Warrior) for a partner over 800m in 51.4, the last 600 in 38 seconds even.

Sand Point won a heat at the Awapuni synthetic trials early last month (850m) then finished third on debut at Wanganui (1200m) two weeks ago.

Benefactor, in at Hawera on Saturday (r75 1400m No 2), worked alone over 800m in 52.3, the last 600 in 38.6, while Colorado Star and a Redwood gelding came up with 54.1 and 38.5. The Redwood gelding is trained by Stephen Mercer.

Lantern Way (r75 1400m No 1) gathered speed from the 1000m (1.12.7) to run home his last 600 in 40 seconds even. He looks a big improver from his resuming run for fifth at Hastings last month.

Dapper Dan and unraced War Decree three-year-old Kosta, both trained by Mike Breslin, covered 800m in an easy 57 seconds even, the last 600 in 41.2.

Lincoln's Kruz, not seen since the Grand National meeting in early August, was given a quiet 800m as well, clocking 58.9, the last 600 in 42 seconds even.

Egmont Cup runner Donnybrook and stablemate Crouch did two quiet rounds, finishing with an easy last 600m in 44.5.

On the synthetic track, Bryce Newman-trained Altezza, preparing for Marton on Sunday (mdn f&m 1400m), skipped over 800m in 49.4, the last 600 in 35.8.

This Turn Me Loose mare won a synthetic trial (850m) at Awapuni early last month followed by a third at Foxton two weeks later. She is working well.

Egmont runner Sotirio (r65 mile) breezed over 800m in 54.1, the last 600 in 38.5, and his stablemate Durham Lad (r75 1400m No 1) took a quieter 58.5 and 39.9.

Queen Of Spades went an easy round and a half before speeding up to run her last 600m in 40.2. She won a Foxton trial last month, but was unplaced when resuming at Waverley six days later.
