Fast work was held halfway out from the rail on the course proper or on the plough during a relatively quiet gallop session.

Platinum Attack and Knickerless used the course proper and went together over 1000m in 1.2.4, coming the final 800m in 50.1, the last 600 in 35.9.

Platinum Attack, a last-start winner of the (Listed) Lightning Handicap at Trentham, has now taken his total earnings over the $400,000 mark from seven wins, three seconds and a third.

Coulthard and Portrush worked just as boldly, with their 1000m taking 1.5.3. They completed the final 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 36.1.

Portrush followed up a Foxton trial win with a second on debut at Tauherenikau two weeks ago and should go one better at Wanganui on Easter Monday.

Bold Belle, who ran an improver's sixth fresh up in the Lightning Handicap two weeks ago, did nice work on her own, gathering speed from the 1000m (1.9.3) to run 800m in 50.6, the last 600 in 36.4.

Her stablemate Altezza recorded a similar gallop, running 1000m in 1.8.8, with the final 800m taking 50.8, the last 600 in 36.9. It's been a long time between drinks for this mare, but she was narrowly beaten at Waverley last start.

Unraced five-year-old gelding Mendacious (by Nadeem) had trainer Deborah Parry aboard over 1000m in 1.10.4, the last 600 in 37.2.

Wanganui acceptor Platinum Goddess (Manawatu Breeders' Stakes) and stablemate Port Chalmer covered 1000m in 1.9.5, the last 600 in 38.5, while Pippasjewel (mdn 1340m) and Silent Applause recorded 1.10.5 and 38.3.

Street Appeal and a Contributer filly, both trained by Bryce Newman, went 800m in an easy 57.7, the last 600 in 41.2.

On the plough, an Armory gelding and an Ocean Park filly, both trained by Mike Breslin, ran 800m in 53.9, the last 600 in 39.3.

Their stablemates East End Lad and Afterthought followed with 800m in 55.2, the last 600 in 40.3, and Rocking Light, trained by Mark Oulaghan, took 1.11 and 40.4.

A Proisir filly and a Ribchester gelding, both trained by Roydon Bergerson, sprinted 600m in 40.8, while unraced two-year-old filly Dance To Exceed (by Exceedance) and an Anders filly, both in Lisa Latta's barn, went 800m in 57.7, the last 600 in 42.1.
