Coney Island stole the show with a very satisfactory gallop at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

Fast work was held just out from the inside rail on the course proper, on the plough or on the synthetic track. Some timing was difficult in either poor light or intermittent fog.

Coney Island and stablemate Rithim used the course proper and were paired over 1000m in 1.5.2, with the final 800m taking 51.9, the last 600 in 36 seconds even.

Street Appeal and Platinum Warrior, both trained by Bryce Newman, lost no kudos with their own 1000m in 1.6.5, completing the final 800m in 52 seconds even, the last 600 in 36.6.

Platinum Warrior is an unraced three-year-old by Contributer.

Taranaki entrant Platinum Tyche (r65 1800m) and Identikit matched strides over 1000m in 1.10.5, the last 600 in 36.7, while Sotirio and unraced three-year-old Breaker Bay (by Embellish) recorded 1.8.3 and 37 seconds even.

Zackery gathered speed from the 1000m to finish with 800m in 54.4, the last 600 in 37.3, with Baronies and unraced two-year-old filly Temptastic (by Tassort) clocking 56.1 and 38.2.

Love Janie, last seen in the spring, and Platinum Sixty Six covered 1000m in 1.9.1, with the final 800m taking 53.4, the last 600 in 38.1. Their stablemates Pippasjewel and a Reliable Man filly went 1.10.2 and 54.5, the last 600 in 38.7.

Our Giulia had Lalume for a partner over 1000m in 1.11 even, and they completed the final sections in 55 seconds even and 38.8, while Subtle Image went alone in 1.13.2 and 56.6, the last 600 in 38.9.

Wonderboy, likely to resume at the synthetic meeting at Awapuni on Sunday week, worked alone over 1000m in 1.12.8 and 56.3, the last 600 in 39.7, and Bee Precious ended with 39.1. Top jumper West Coast recorded 1.9.2 and 55.2, the last 600 in 40 seconds even.

East End Lad and Kosta ran 1000m in 1.4.9, but were unable to be timed the last 600. Sevenayes, nominated for Taranaki (r75 mile), and Showbastian Coe went together in 1.5.8, and Pepeha (r75 1200m) recorded 1.9.1. Sundown Sav and Niemi took 1.13.5.

On the plough, Al Passo and unraced two-year-old Caliber (by Armory) ran 800m in 53.7, the last 600 in 38.4, and their stablemates Afterthought and Popinjay ended with 39.5. Super Gold posted 41.4.

On the synthetic track, Felucca was timed 800m in 52.6, the last 600 in 38.9, and she will be a big improver after a resuming race at Tauherenikau three weeks ago.
