Lower grade performers Breaker Bay and Keepitinyourwallet stole the show at Awapuni on Tuesday morning.

However, Coney Island, Identikit, Too Sweet and Turn It Up lost no kudos.

The majority of fast work was held on the middle of the course proper amid perfect conditions, and some smart times were recorded as horses prepared for Hawera on Saturday. Trials at Waipukurau were scheduled for later in the day.

Breaker Bay, trained by Matthew Eales, and Keepitinyourwallet (Stephen Mercer) were the last to use the course proper and were paired over 1000m in 1.3.9, with the final 800m taking 49.3, the last 600 in 35.2. Both horses are working solidly.

Coney Island and Identikit went together over 1200m in 1.19.2, being timed their final 1000m in 1.3.4. The pair finished with 800m in 50.2, the last 600 in 35.9.

Too Sweet and Turn It Up worked early and covered 1000m in 1.6.2, gathering speed as they went to complete their final 800m in 49.9, the last 600 in 35.7.

Thrilling and Connello were locked together over 1000m in 1.4.4, with the final 800m taking 50.5, the last 600 in 36.6, while Donnybrook and East End Lad clocked 1.6.9 and 51.7, the last 600 in 36.8.

Subtle Image worked alone over 800m in 51.8, the last 600 in 36.9, followed soon after by Intention and unraced three-year-old Mac Attack (by Harry Angel) in 52.6 and 36.7. Mac Attack has been going well at the jump-outs and trials, and was among the Hawera nominations.

Last-start Trentham maiden winner High Rock and unraced filly Joyful Anna, three-year-olds trained by Roydon Bergerson, ran 1000m in 1.3.7, with the final 800m in 49.9, the last 600 in 37.6. Joyful Anna was nominated for Hawera.

Portrush and Sax Appeal, both from the Latta barn, went 1000m in 1.5.2 and finished with 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 37.1. Both horses have had a freshen up since last racing in the autumn.

Wonderboy had unraced four-year-old Rangitoto (by Reliable Man) for a partner over 1000m in 1.7.1, with the final 800m taking 52.2, the last 600 in 37.2.

Showbastian Coe worked alone over 1000m 1.7.4 and 52.2, the last 600 in 37.8, while Manzor Blue and Love Janie went together in 1.8.1 and 53.7, the last 600 in 38.2.

Punisher and Timex, both fresh up, covered 800m 55.9, the last 600 in 38.4, while Ribella Rose and an Anders filly took 55.6 and 39.6.

Lumos Solem and unraced three-year-old filly Marie Laveau (by Ribchester) were at a good clip early over 1000m in 1.3.4, but eased over the final stages to finish with 600 in 39 seconds even. Marie Laveau was nominated for Hawera.

On the plough, Overtime and unraced three-year-old Returntoinnocence (by King's Legacy) ran 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 36.9, while Galeforce went 1000m on her own in 1.8.3, the last 600 in 39.8. All three are trained by Lydia Pickford.
