Fast work was held five or six metres out from the rail on the course proper (good) or on the synthetic track.

Pinkerton, a last-start maiden hurdle winner at Woodville, worked alone over 1000m in 1.5.5, with the final 800m taking 50.9, the last 600 in 36.4.

The nine-year-old is at the top of his game again, and will attempt to put back-to-back wins together over hurdles at Woodville this Sunday.

Identikit, edging closer to her best form, and maiden four-year-old Confide worked together, recording similar times over 1000m in 1.5.6 and 50.7, the last 600 in 36.6. Confide, nominated for Woodville, finished third at Hawera last start.

Sweettest, whose four hurdle starts have yielded three seconds, was timed 1000m in 1.6.8, finishing with 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 36.7. She will try to go one better in the same race as Pinkerton at Woodville.

May Wirth and She's A Weapon, lightly raced maidens from the Didham barn, ran 1000m in 1.8.5, with the final 800m taking 52 seconds even, the last 600 in 36.1.

Unraced six-year-old Edison (by Staphanos) and unraced three-year-old Abonga (by Wrote), both from the Oulaghan stable, covered 1000m in 1.7.4 and 50.5, the last 600 in 36.9.

Sotirio and Breaker Bay, likely Taranaki runners, left 800m behind in 50.7, the last 600 in 36.4, while Bona Sforza went alone in 54.7 and 36.3.

Shinyuu (by Nadeem) and a Derryn colt, both trained by Deborah Parry, ran 800m in 50.8, the last 600 in 36.8. Shinyuu was unplaced on debut in May and has not raced since.

Maiden three-year-olds All On Red and Bellass, both trained by Lisa Latta, did nice work over 1000m in 1.7.8, the last 600 in 37.9. They were nominated for Woodville.

Platinum Attack, in Saturday's $400,000 Proisir Plate, and Connello worked right-handed, gathering speed from the 1000m (1.9.5) to finish with 600m in 37.4.

Their stablemate Thrilling, not seen on race day since mid-May, ran 800m in 55.5, the last 600 in 38.3, while Falcrests Belle, nominated for Taranaki, and Loose Jewels were kept to 58.1 and 39.9.

Too Sweet, a winner at the Levin jump-outs last week, and Wonderboy were paired over 800m in 56.1, the last 600 in 42.1, and Brutiful Lass, winner of her last two in succession, took 55.3 and 42.6. Wonderboy and Brutiful Lass were nominated for (Taranaki).

On the synthetic track, Lumos Solem (Taranaki), and a Ribchester filly, both trained by Samantha Finnegan, sprinted 600m in 40.7.
