The majority of fast work was held wide out on the course proper, with perfect conditions underfoot again.

Seven Newman-trained horses performed with distinction at the Foxton trials last week, recording four wins, two seconds and a third. They all galloped with flying colours again this morning.

Uncle Arch and Only The Lonely took the stable honours with 1000m in 1.5.9, finishing with 800m in 50.7, the last 600 in 35.8.

Altezza and Street Appeal posted times almost identical, with 1000m coming up in 1.7.7 and 50.6, the last 600 in 35.8 as well.

Tifosi and Blue Jeanie were locked together over 1000m in 1.7.6, with the final 800m taking 51.2, the last 600 in 35.7.

Overall time honours went to two unraced three-year-olds from Lisa Latta's barn in Mamacita (by Embellish) and Hidden Tiger (by Tiger Of Malay), who went 1000m together in 1.3.2, running the final 800m in 49.4, the last 600 in 35.4.

Their stablemates The Explosive and unraced Jack Of Diamonds ran 800m in 49.4, the last 600 in 35.7, while Crime Of Passion and unraced Siren (by Proisir), two more from that barn, clocked 50.9 and 35.4.

Sunday's Wellington acceptor Wind Talker (r75 2400m) worked alone over 1000m in 1.7.1, with the final 800m taking 52 seconds even, the last 600 in 36.8.

Her unraced stablemate Abonga (by Wrote) covered 1000m in 1.9.6, coming the final 800m in 52.3, the last 600 in 36.9.

Bona Sforza and Lumos Solem, both trained by Samantha Finnegan, ran 800m in 50.5, the last 600 in 36.2.

Unraced four-year-old Raven Lunatic (by Tarzino) and unraced three-year-old filly The Thriller (by The Bold One), did 1000m in 1.5.7 and finished with 800m in 51 seconds even, the last 600 in 36.3. They are with Lisa Latta.

He's A Doozy and Dark Deluxe worked right-handed over 1000m in 1.12.6, increasing the tempo as they went to finish with 800m in 49.1, the last 600 in 37.1.

Ribella Rose and Port Chalmer matched strides over 1000m in 1.6.4 and completed the final 800m in 51.8, the last 600 in 37.2.

Wellington acceptors High Rock (3yo 1400m) and Merroca (mdn 1400m) went with Rangitoto over 1000m in 1.7.5, taking 52.5 for the final 800m, the last 600 in 37.1. Rangitoto was unplaced on debut at Woodville two weeks ago.

The Scunner (open mile) and Manuka Rush (mdn 1400m) did nice, even work over 1000m in 1.9.8, running home the final 800m in 53.4, the last 600 in 37.6.

The Scunner will have a nose band added to his gear on Sunday, and Manuka Rush will race in blinkers for the first time.

Kirinka, unlucky not to pay a dividend at Woodville two weeks ago, and a Tarzino filly were paired over 800m in 54.3, the last 600 in 38 seconds even.

Unraced two-year-olds Tiff N' Tatt (by Super Seth) and last week's Foxton trial winner Choosin Texas (by Hello Youmzain) ended with 600m in 39.7.

Hoorah Henry, a double acceptor at Wellington, was kept to 1000m in 1.14.3, with the final 800m taking 58 seconds even, the last 600 in 40.7. Kawatiri (r65 mile) recorded 1.15.4 and 58.7, the last 600 in 41.4.

On the plough, Bee Precious from the Newman stable ran 800m in 52.1, the last 600 in 37.6, while a Sword Of State filly and an Alamosa filly, both trained by Mike Breslin, sprinted 600m in 41.7.
